ALBANY, N.Y. (November 23, 2019) – The Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (15-6) had its championship season come to an end with a 2-1 loss to Stonehill (12-4-4) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.

The Rams were the fifth seed in the East Region while the Skyhawks are seeded fourth. Stonehill advances to the second round on Sunday and plays either host Saint Rose or eighth-seeded Daemen.

Jefferson captured its fourth CACC Championship and made its third NCAA appearance. The Rams had the second-most victories in program history and had a school-record 11-game win streak during the campaign.

GAMEPLAY
The Skyhawks got off the first two shots of the game in the opening 10 minutes. Jefferson got its first shot in the 11^th minute and just missed to the right. In the 20^th minute, the Rams had possession in the Stonehill end. Senior Hanna Glass passed to her right at the top of the box to senior MaryKate Ulmer. Ulmer blasted a well-placed shot just over the goalkeeper's outstretched hand and into the net for her team-leading 15^th goal of the year.

Jefferson had the lead for only three minutes before the Skyhawks potted the equalizer. Emma Slade kicked from the left side of the box into the upper right corner with a seeing-eye shot to even the score. The Rams then controlled play for nearly 20 minutes, tallying five shots, but could not regain the lead. Stonehill converted an opportunity with just 3:55 left before halftime to take a 2-1 advantage. The Skyhawks had a corner kick but the ball was cleared towards midfield. The ball was sent back into the box with Kayla Henry controlling and finding the back of the net.

Stonehill started the second half with two straight shots, the second of which was stopped by graduate student Erin Tinneny in impressive fashion in the box as she dived to her right. Jefferson then pressured the Skyhawks for several minutes, totaling five shots, but was unable to bring the score level. Stonehill began foiling the Rams' movement up field in the last 15 minutes and the Rams were able to get just one more shot down the stretch.

NOTES
- Tinneny finished with five saves on the day.
- The Rams finished with a 13-11 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
- Ulmer's 15 goals this season were the most by a Ram since Diana Trzaska had 28 in 1995.

LOOKING FORWARD
Jefferson is expected to return 26 players to next year's squad, including six starters.
