LAKEWOOD, N.J. (April 29, 2018) -- A stretch midway through the first half saw Georgian Court University scored 10 of the game's 11 goals as the Lions took the lead and never relinquished it in a 22-12 triumph over Chestnut Hill College to claim the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Lacrosse Championship. It marked the second-consecutive season the Lions claimed the CACC crown.

After an early 3-0 hole, Georgian Court reeled off five-straight goals to go on top. Samantha Fernandez, who was named the most valuable player of the tournament, scored twice during the surge to give GCU a 5-3 advantage. After a CHC goal, Fernandez threw in three markers to highlight another 5-0 rally to make it 10-4 with 2:20 left in the half.

CHC scored twice late in the half to pull within four at the break, and then scored early to open the second half, but eight-consecutive goals from GCU brough the Griffins' threat to an end.

Fernandez finished with eight goals on 11 shots and had nine points on the day with an assist as well. Taylor Bauerband and Xena Valenzuela each scored four times to help lead the Lions to victory. Nicole Barbella notched a six-point afternoon with five assists and a tally.

Julia Galantich led the Chestnut Hill charge with five goals on 10 shots, while also totaling three assists for an eight-point day. She, too, was named to the all-tournament team.
