Caldwell Wins 2nd Straight CACC WBOWL Championship in Dramatic Fashion

2023-24 CACC WOMEN'S BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. (March 24, 2024) -- Caldwell University made it two titles in a row on Sunday as the top-seeded Cougars won in dramatic fashion over second-seeded Wilmington University, 2-1, in the 2023-24 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women''s Bowling Championship Final at Pike Lanes in Southampton, Pa.

Sunday's mega match went all the way to the third and final match of the format (best-of-seven baker) and into the seventh and deciding game of that session tied at 3-3. Caldwell responded in championship-winning fashion by posting a 203-164 victory in the seventh game to win the best-of-seven baker by a 4-3 margin and ultimately give the Cougars two victories out of the three matches played on Sunday. They also won the opening match of the day (total pinfall) by a count of 932-894.

However, WilmU responded by winning the second contest (baker total pinfall) to even the mega match at 1-1. The Wildcats posted an 851-834 win in the second match.

Caldwell went ahead three games to one early in the best-of-seven baker, but the Wildcats roared back with a pair of wins to knot the contest at 3-3. WilmU won game five, 203-162, and then game six by a count of 186-145.

The Cougars, though, rallied for the win in the seventh game. Lauren Marks was named the Most Valuable Bowler of the Tournament for Caldwell.
