CALDWELL, N.J. (March 6, 2022) -- In its final CACC Tournament game in school history, the University of the Sciences women's basketball team went out in style with a 53-44 win over rival Thomas Jefferson University on Sunday at the Newman Center in Caldwell, N.J. The Devils earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament, which will be conducted next weekend at a site to be determined.

Jess Huber logged 12 points and six rebounds, as she was named most valuable player of the championship. Kendall Keyes added 11 points in the win.

Haley Meinel paced Jefferson with 12 points, as the Rams were seeking their third conference title in the last four seasons. Jefferson will most likely earn an at-large bid to the NCAA regional next week, as final brackets will be announced on Sunday night at ncaa.com(.)

Sciences jumped out to an early 13-6 lead, but Jefferson stormed back in the opening stages of the second quarter to take a 22-20 lead. The Devils, however, scored seven-straight points to close out the half at 27-22 and would never trail the rest of the way. Jefferson did chip away at the deficit and pulled to within five at 45-40 with a little more than three minutes remaining, but Sciences made its free throws down the stretch to seal the championship.

It was USciences' third CACC title in the last six seasons.
