Jefferson's Caitlyn Cunningham Named CACC Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2019

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 8, 2019) -- Jefferson women's basketball standout Caitlyn Cunningham on Friday was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2019, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Cunningham earned the award for demonstrating success on the hardwood, in the classroom and giving back to her local community.

On the court, Cunningham averaged 21.9 points per game in helping to lead the Rams to a No. 2 national ranking at one point during the month. She shot 55 percent from the field, including a strong 49 percent from beyond the arc. Cunningham posted 4.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.9 steals per outing as well. She scored in double-digits in all but one game with four 20-plus and two 30-plus point performances. Cunningham was twice named the CACC Player of the Week during February and earned a Defensive Player-of-the-Week accolade following a 12-steal performance against Georgian Court.

On the academic front, Cunningham sports a 3.67 cumulative grade point average in her major of business management. She has been named to the Dean's List in each of her first five semesters at Jefferson.

The Dresher, Pa., native has also been active in her local community. She has participated with the Jefferson women's basketball team in various initiatives, including the Julius Erving Youth Basketball Experience, Beats for Bella Golf Outing, Play4Kay, Athletes Helping Athletes and Special Olympics.

Cunningham's honor marks the second-consecutive month a member of the Jefferson women's program earned the prestigious award, as teammate Jessica Kaminski received the award for January 2019.

The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month Award is given each month from September through May, which spans the course of the academic calendar. The award recognizes not only a student-athlete's athletic prowess, but also how they succeed in the classroom and serve as a mentor through community engagement activities.
