USciences Duo of Irisa Ye & Alex Thomas Named 2018-19 WBCA Division II Honorable-Mention All-Americans

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 26, 2019) -- The University of the Sciences' duo of Irisa Ye and Alex Thomas were recently named Honorable-Mention All-Americans by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), as announced by the national organization.

Both student-athletes have won numerous awards this season, including first-team honors in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and all-region honors from both the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and the WBCA.

Ye ranked second in the CACC in scoring this season, as she posted 17.0 points per game. Thomas averaged 14.0 points per game to rank among the league leaders as well.

The duo helped guide USciences to the CACC South Division Regular Season Championship, a berth in the conference final and the No. 1 ranking in the East Region of NCAA Division II. The No. 1 ranking allowed the Devils to host the Division II East Region Tournament earlier this month in Philadelphia.

The nominating and voting for the WBCA All-Region and All-America Teams is conducted by the head coaches throughout Division II, and are dues paying members of the WBCA. The announcement was made at the Division II Elite Eight in Columbus, Ohio.
