Jefferson's Jessica Kaminski Named the CACC Student-Athlete of the Month for January 2019

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (February 7, 2019) -- Jefferson Women's Basketball standout Jessica Kaminski on Thursday was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for January 2019, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Kaminski earned the prestigious monthly award for demonstrating success on the court, in the classroom, and in her surrounding communities.

On the basketball court, the graduate student from Philadelphia, Pa., averaged 17.9 points per game during the month to go along with 8.1 rebounds. Kaminski helped guide the Rams to a 20-0 overall record during the month and a No. 2 national ranking in the D2SIDA Top-25 Poll. It marked the highest ranking for the Rams in program history.

One of the program's biggest wins came back on Jan. 3, as the Rams moved into the top 10 nationally with an impressive 67-61 win over the University of the Sciences, which at the time was unbeaten and ranked in the top 10 itself. Kaminski was also named the CACC Player of the Week multiple times during the month, as the Rams moved to the top spot in the various NCAA Division II East Region polls.

Kaminski is just as strong in the classroom as she is on the hardwood. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in business this past May. Kaminski was named to the Dean's List during her undergraduate studies, and has also been named to the list during the initial stages of her master's degree work. Kaminski currently sports a 3.74 grade point average in her MBA program, focusing on innovation and general business.

Kaminski has also spent a considerable amount of time giving back to her local community. She has participated in the Julius Erving Youth Basketball Experience, teaching fundamentals of the game to area kids; volunteering at the Beats for Bella Golf Outing, raising money for combatting childhood diseases; Play4Kay; and working with Special Olympians.

The CACC hands out a student-athlete-of-the-month award from September through May, spanning the course of the academic calendar. Kaminski will be honored for her award at the CACC Basketball Championship Banquet, which will be held on Friday, March 8, in Caldwell, N.J.
