PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (December 18, 2016) -- Former Holy Family University women's basketball coach Mike McLaughlin on Sunday was officially inducted into the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Hall of Fame during an on-court ceremony prior to the Tigers and West Chester contest.

CACC Commissioner Dan Mara was on hand to provide remarks about McLaughlin's amazing career at HFU and afterwards presented McLaughlin with a framed portrait commemorating his induction in the hall of fame. Following Mara was Holy Family Assistant Vice President of Athletics Sandra Michael, who presented her former coach with a special gift from the school's athletic department.

McLaughlin then took to the podium to speak to the large crowd filled with former players from his coaching days at the school and former teammates from when he starred on the men's basketball team at HFU. He spoke of his time at the school and all the people he got to know, which became his extended family. Despite moving on and doing a terrific job in the same capactiy at the University of Pennsylvania, Holy Family has not left McLaughlin's heart and his comments reflected that.

Holy Family has been one of the most successful programs in the nation -- regardless of division -- the past 20 years and much of that can be attributed to McLaughlin. During his 14 seasons at HFU, McLaughlin compiled a 407-61 record for a winning percentage of .870. The Tigers won at least 25 games in each of his 14 seasons, including 30 or more in six years.

Holy Family won either the CACC tournament or regular season championship in each of his final 11 years at the school. His teams qualified for six NCAA Division II Tournament appearances (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009), as the 2008 squad finished ninth in the final USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll that season. McLaughlin also led the 2007-08 Tigers to a spot in the NCAA East Region Tournament Final.

He reached 400 wins faster than any coach in NCAA women's basketball history, as he did so in just 459 games with the feat being accomplished during the 2008-09 campaign. McLaughlin won eight CACC Coach-of-the-Year awards and his student-athletes also got involved in collecting CACC accolades. Under his guidance, HFU student-athletes combined to earn 27 All-CACC honors while four of them combined to take home five CACC Player-of-the-Year awards. Three Tigers also claimed the CACC Rookie-of-the-Year award. During HFU's NAIA days, three student-athletes were named All-American, as McLaughlin led the program eight NAIA Tournament appearances.

McLaughlin becomes the second member of the CACC Hall of Fame Class of 2016 to be officially inducted, joining the Felician College Men's Cross Country Team from 2007, which claimed the conference crown that year and entered the hall on Dec. 3. The remaining two members of the Class of 2016 will be inducted on Jan. 28 (Georgian Court University's Heather Walker) and Feb. 4 (Caldwell University's Matthew Stuart) with on-campus ceremonies.
