NEW HAVEN, Conn. (January 14, 2013) – University of the Sciences' Brianne Traub (Wayne, N.J.) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the reporting period ending January 13, 2013. Post University's Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) was selected as the CACC Rookie of the Week.

CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Brianne Traub (So., G, Wayne N.J.) USciences Major: Pharmacy
Against Philadelphia Traub took over the game in the second half, scoring 19 of her 22 points as the Devils rallied from a 12 point deficit with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Twelve of Brianne's 19 second half points came in the final 10 minutes, including three free-throws in the final 20 seconds to seal the 74-70 win. In the victory, Brianne also pulled in 11 rebounds and dished out four assists while adding a steal to help secure the Devil's eighth win.

The Wayne, N.J. native also led all scorers with 22 points against Wilmington. Twelve of Traub's 22 points came in a second half 29-2 Devils run that turned a five point game into a 32 point lead. In over 70 minutes of action last week, Brianne committed just one turnover in two games last week.

CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Hailey Griffin (Fr., G, Plainfield, Conn.) Post  – Major: Criminal Justice
Griffin averaged 12.5 points per game and kicked off the week with a career-high 14 points against Nyack in an 80-61 triumph. She capped the week with an 11-point performance at Caldwell. The 5-11 guard shot an impressive 80% from behind the arc and 55.6% from the field in the win over Nyack.  She also added three assists, 4 rebounds and a steal to her stat line for the game.  Her hot streak continued against Caldwell on Saturday, shooting 66.7% from range and 57.1% from the field. For the week the Plainfield native shot 9-for-16 from the floor and 6-for-8 from distance. Griffin was 4-for-5 from beyond the arc against the Warriors.

CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HONORABLE MENTION
Krystina Agard (Sr., G, Queens, N.Y.) Concordia  - Major: Psychology
Agard averaged 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds to help Concordia earn a 1-1 split in a pair of games last week.  The 5-8 guard scored 17 points and shot 60% from the floor in a 63-50 loss at Dominican.  Krystina also pulled in seven rebounds and dished out two assists in the loss.  The Clippers bounced back on Saturday with an 80-60 victory over Nyack.  Agard paced Concordia with her 20-point, 10-rebound performance while turning in three assists on the afternoon.

Erin Mann (Sr., C, West Chester, Pa.) Holy Family  – Major: Sports Marketing-Management
Mann scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half to lead the Tigers past Goldey-Beacom 47-43 on Thursday night. In her 22 minutes on the floor, the West Chester native grabbed 10 rebounds, a steal and a block despite getting into foul trouble to record her sixth double-double of the season. All ten of her rebounds came in the second half. The 6-1 senior scored 20 points in a 66-28 victory over Georgian Court on Saturday. In the win, Mann added three blocks, three assists and a steal.

KC Jentzen (Jr., F, Pearl River, N.Y.) Dominican - Major: Psychology
KC averaged 14.5 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Lady Chargers. The 5-10 junior psychology major recorded a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds in a 63-50 win over Concordia College and added 13 points, six rebounds and a steal to Dominican's 59-52 winning effort against Bloomfield.

CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM NOTES
BLOOMFIELD -  The Lady Deacons went 1-1 in a two-game week, snapping a five-game losing streak with a victory over CACC North Division rival Felician College Saturday afternoon. Junior guard Ivettlis Castro (Carteret, N.J.) came off the bench to total a game-high 22 points in the victory, going 6-of-8 from beyond the arc to lead Bloomfield to their eighth win of the season. Fellow junior Iliriana Lulgjuraj (Bloomfield, N.J.) notched 15 points in the victory to go with a pair of steals, while sophomore center Tierra Scott (Bear, De.) totaled six points, five rebounds and a game-high three blocks. Senior Shaniqua Bacote (Paterson, N.J.) totaled 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals in a solid all-around effort.

CALDWELL  - The Cougars won a pair of conference games last week to improve to 5-4 in the CACC. On Wednesday, senior center Gillian Felix scored 16 points as Caldwell erased a 14-point second-half deficit to defeat Felician on the road, 66-63. Senior guard Torey Jones scored the final five points and had 14, while sophomore forward Emily Caswell added 14 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. The Cougars made it three wins in a row with a 71-61 victory over visiting Post on Saturday. Freshman guard Nicole Angelo hit 4-of-6 from three-point range en route to a career-high 18 points. Felix contributed 14 points, nine boards and two blocks. Caldwell's next game is Jan. 23 against Nyack.

CHESTNUT HILL - The Griffins endured two CACC losses this week. The first was a narrow defeat at the hands of Georgian Court University, 68-66, and the second a 55-46 loss to Philadelphia University on January 12. In a physical affair fueled by turnovers, 44 personal fouls and 52 turnovers, the Lions came out two points ahead of Chestnut Hill College. Despite fouling out with 6:19 to play, Lions senior guard Shauneia McPhearson (Chicago, Ill.) led all scorers with 18 points, four Griffins finished in double figures. Against the Lady Rams, the determination of senior forward Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) and hot hand of sophomore guard Olivia Gorczynski (Parlin, N.J.) helped the Griffins close in on Philadelphia University at the end of each half. Unfortunately, the Griffins fell short in the 55-46 CACC decision. Three Lady Rams finished in double figures, while Alexander and Gorcyznski combined for 25 points.

CONCORDIA –  Concordia began the week falling at Dominican, 63-50, then grabbed an 80-60 victory over Nyack on Saturday. Senior Krystina Agard (Queens, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field while also adding a team-high 10 rebounds. Senior Sade Jones (Patterson, N.J.) added 17 points, four rebounds and three assists while sophomore Megan Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded 16 points and junior Victoria Jones (Staten Island, N.Y.) chipped in with 15 points. Concordia connected on 11 three-point baskets in the game and held a 15-3 advantage in fast break points. For the upcoming week Concordia (3-14, 2-7 CACC) will host Post University for their second regular season meeting of the season.

DOMINICAN –  The Lady Chargers went 2-0 in action last week to improve to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in the CACC. Senior guard Lindsey Lopez recorded her 1,000th career point during the victory over Concordia College on January 9, 2013. Two days earlier, Dominican College defeated Bloomfield College 59-52.

GOLDEY-BEACOM -  The Lightning, who have won 7 of their last 10 games, split a pair of contests last week to improve their record to 10-8 overall and 7-2 in the CACC. Currently in second place in the CACC's South Division standings, the Lightning earned a commanding 71-44 victory over Wilmington on Tuesday night before dropping a heartbreaking 47-43 decision against 14th-ranked and defending CACC champion Holy Family on Thursday evening. The loss snapped the Lightning's school-record seven-game conference win streak. Senior guard Jacinda Jones led the Lightning last week by averaging 14.0 points per game while shooting a blistering 72.7 per cent from the field, including a 7-for-10 effort from three-point range. She scored a season-high 22 points in the loss against Holy Family while making six of nine shots from the floor, including a five-for-nine performance from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, senior guard Devonne Richardson set another GBC school record by becoming the Lightning's all-time leader in steals against Wilmington. Entering this week's games, the Baltimore, Md. native holds school records for career assists, steals, free throws made and free throws attempted. With seven rebounds, she can also set the school record for career rebounds. The Lightning, who held Holy Family to its lowest point total in nearly three years, will host Chestnut Hill on Tuesday evening in a rematch of a 66-52 Lightning victory on Dec. 19 in Philadelphia as Richardson scored a season-high 24 points to lead Goldey-Beacom.

GEORGIAN COURT – The Lions play a lone game this week as they host Wilmington University Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m.

HOLY FAMILY - Holy Family picked up a pair of conference victories to improve to 14-2 overall and 8-1 in the CACC. The Tigers, ranked 14th in the recent USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II National Top-25 Coaches' Poll, defeated Goldey-Beacom (47-43) on Thursday and capped the week with a 66-28 victory versus Georgian Court. Senior Erin Mann recorded her sixth double-double of the season with an 18-point, 10 rebound performance versus the Lightning. Mann helped lead a second half comeback for the Tigers scoring 16 of her 18 points and grabbing all 10 rebounds in the second half. She followed that up with a 20-point performance in the win versus the Lions.

PHILADELPHIA – The Rams (8-6, 5-3 CACC) split a pair of CACC contests with a 74-70 loss to the University of the Sciences on Jan. 9 and a 55-46 triumph over Chestnut Hill on Jan. 12. Head coach Tom Shirley took over fifth place on the all-time Divison II women's basketball coaching wins list with 635 career wins passing former West Texas A&M coach Bob Schneider. Senior forward Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, Pa. had 12 points in each game to close with 46 points of 1,000 in her career. Sophomore guard Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored a season-high 19 points in the loss to the Devils. Philadelphia plays its final non-conference game of the season when it hosts Washington Adventist on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.

WILMINGTON - The Wildcats dropped both its games this past week, falling to Goldey-Beacom, 71-44, and USciences, 86-58. Wilmington had the game to within double-digits in the second half of each game before the opposing team made a big run to settle the score. Tashea Plummer had back-to-back double-doubles for the Wildcats, scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds against Goldey before recording 17 points and a career high 17 rebounds against USciences. The 17 rebounds were the seventh most in a single game in program history. The Wildcats head to Georgian Court on Tuesday for their only matchup of the week.

USCIENCES –  The Devils won both their games last week to get back to the .500 mark overall and extend their winning streak to three. Sciences rallied from a 12-point deficit with 10 minutes to go on to defeat Philadelphia 74-70 on Wednesday. Brianne Traub (Wayne, N.J.) took over the game in the second half with 19 of her 22 points coming in the final period while Isabella Ross (Philadelphia, Pa.) also scored 10 of her career-high 13 points in the final 10 minutes of the game. Against Wilmington, the Devils used a 29-2 run over a 7+ minute span in the second half to pull away from Wilmington, 86-58. Traub had 12 of her 22 points during this run. Traub's two straight 22 point games moves her into the Devils top 20 all-time scoring list, ranking 19th with 777 points. Becca Ruggear moved into 17th place on the Devils all-time rebound list with 12 this week to give her 484 for her career. Ruggear also moved into 12th place on the Devils all-time blocked shot list, notching four this week to give her 53 for her career. In the most recent NCAA statistics report, Traub, the CACC's leading scorer, is ranked 28th nationally, averaging 18.6 per game. Traub and Ruggear are also tied for 49th nationally with four double-doubles apiece.
