Georgian Court Selected as NCAA Division II Game Environment Award of Excellence Winner

NEW HAVEN, Conn.  (December 12, 2012) – The Georgian Court athletic department's celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day was recently selected as the NCAA Division II Game Environment Award of Excellence winner for the top game environment initiative for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).

In February, the Lions athletic department celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day as the Lions' women's basketball team hosted Nyack College. Prior to tip-off, all young girls and women in attendance were invited to a reception where they had the opportunity to meet Georgian Court's student-athletes. Throughout the basketball game special giveaways were handed out and half-time activities were held.  Following the game, the basketball team was available to meet and participate in games.

The NCAA Division II Game Environment Award of Excellence is a part of the NCAA Division II Game Environment Recognition Program aimed at recognizing and rewarding institutions and conferences for their efforts to engage their communities and implement a positive game environment.  The NCAA's Game Environment initiatives are recognized on the institutional, conference and national levels.
