SHUMOSKI AND BAUER NAMED CACC CO-PLAYERS OF THE YEAR

NEW HAVEN - University of the Sciences in Philadelphia senior forward Leah Shumoski and Holy Family University junior center Megan Bauer have been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball co-Players of the Year in balloting released today. The voting was conducted by the 13 conference head coaches. Holy Family freshman guard Melissa Brooks was named CACC Rookie of the Year, while Holy Family Head Coach Mike McLaughlin was voted as the Coach of the Year. Furthermore, Nyack College finished first in the balloting for the annual Team Sportsmanship Award.

Shumoski ranks fourth in the conference in scoring (17.5) and fourth in rebounding (9.6), while Bauer stands 10th in scoring (14.0), second in rebounding (10.9) and first in blocks (3.89). Brooks has enjoyed an outstanding freshman year and averages 8.5 points per-game and 4.4 rebounds per-game. McLaughlin has led the Tigers to an undefeated CACC regular-season (24-0) and a 26-1 overall record this season. He has earned CACC Coach of the Year accolades in 10 of his 11 seasons at the helm of the Tigers.

The other three members of the All-CACC first team are USP junior guard Shelby Rance, Holy Family sophomore guard Kelly Killion and Philadelphia University junior forward Meg Abele. Killion was last year's choice for Rookie of the Year.

The All-CACC second team includes Post University juniors Marjorie Prado and Tadj Williams, along with Goldey-Beacom junior forward Toni Jones, Bloomfield senior guard Domenica Raymond and Philadelphia junior forward Nicole Mechell.

The third team includes two players from NJIT; junior guard Kelly Crowe and senior center Selena Kershaw. The remaining three members are Felician sophomore forward Danielle Norman, Bloomfield sophomore forward Marissa Franklin and Dominican junior guard Jackie Tracey.

Holy Family sophomore forward Chrissy Kosiek and Georgian Court sophomore guard Stephanie Longdo were Honorable Mention selections.
