HFU's Augustin & Dominican's Zigic Earn Second-Team Academic All-America Honors from Google Cloud/CoSIDA

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (June 20, 2018) -- Two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's track & field/cross country standouts (Holy Family University's Tarai Augustin & Dominican College's Jovan Zigic) were recently named to the 2018 Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team for Division II, as announced by the national organization for sports information directors. 

To be eligible for the Academic All-America Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically. They must also own a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution, and be a starter or important reserve on their team. They must also be named to their respective Academic All-District First Team.

Augustin, a senior, owns a cumulative grade point average of 3.96 in his major of biology/pre-med. He finished 12th at the CACC Cross Country Championship back in October to earn All-CACC honors, while on the track this season he won the 800 meters at the CACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Augustin also earned All-CACC honors in the 4x400 meters, as he helped the Tigers finish second in the event.

Zigic, a senior, maintained a GPA of 4.0 in Mathematics, while being a member of the cross country and track programs. This season he won the 100-meter run at the DeSchriver Invitational and the 800-meter run at the Vassar Invite.  Off the track, he was named the Dominican College Top Senior Male-Scholar Athlete and was inducted into the Dominican College New York Sigma Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma.

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is an NCAA Division II Conference composed of 14 institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The member institutions are Bloomfield College, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Concordia (N.Y.) College, Dominican (N.Y.)
