NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 8, 2019) -- Fifty-five (55) student-athletes on Wednesday were named to the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. All 14 programs that play the sport in the conference had at least one all-academic team member.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.

Fifteen (15) student-athletes had cumulative grade point averages of 3.90 or higher, including a trio who posted perfect 4.0 marks, including Dominican College's Shelby Smith, Goldey-Beacom College's Dianna Gatto and University of the Sciences' Brittany Rickard. Smith also earned the CACC Top XVI Award for having the highest cumulative GPA at the final's site last week.

Twenty-eight (28) of the 53 honorees earned all-academic status for at least the second time in their distinguished careers, including 11 who earned it for a third time.

Four schools led the way six honorees apiece including Chestnut Hill College, Geogrian Court University, Jefferson and University of the Sciences. CHC's best mark was Jessica Heaton's 3.90 in accounting, while GCU's was held by Haley Jones at 3.80 in business administration. Jefferson's belonged to Katelyn Stys at 3.93 in law & society, while USciences' top GPA was the 4.0 mark held by Rickard.
