NEW CASTLE, Del. (May 24, 2019) -- For the third time in her career, Wilmington University softball's Rosa Lynn Burton has been named an All-American, becoming the first Wildcat to ever be named First Team as the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II recently announced this week. The 2019 NFCA All-Americans are voted on by Division II head coaches.

On top of the All-American distinction, Burton was awarded the 2019 New Balance/NFCA Golden Shoe Award, swiping 1.20 bases per game this year while going a perfect 60-for-60 overall.

Burton (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) earned the NFCA All-American honor her freshman season, but claimed First Team recognition for the first time in her career this year, along with 16 other honorees. This is the first year that she earned the D2CCA All-American honor. She was an Honorable Mention award winner last year as a sophomore. She is the first three-time All-American in Wilmington University Athletics Department history, dating back to the 2004-05 season (NCAA era).

The junior finished the season with a new career-best .517 batting average to go along with 91 hits, breaking the single-season program record. In all of NCAA Division II, she sits fifth in batting average and hits, as teams head into the Championship. Her dominating season included five doubles, five triples, and one home run with 26 RBI. She set a another program record, going 60-for-60 in stolen bases this season, which puts her atop in all of NCAA Division II. She currently sits atop of the program's all-time career hits list with 266 going into her senior season. She had a season-high five hits, going 5-for-6 with three RBI in the Wildcats' 9-8 win against West Chester on March 26 this year. She also matched her season-high of three stolen bases seven times throughout the year.

The leftfielder helped lead the Wildcats to their best season throughout the NCAA era, going 39-15 overall, with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference record of 22-4 and their third CACC title in six years. The Wildcats then went on to host the NCAA Division II East II Regional Tournament.

Altogether, 51 student-athletes from 38 institutions have been chosen to one of the three 2019 NFCA Division II All-America teams, while 42 student athletes were named to one of the three 2019 D2CCA All-American teams.

Truman State's Christa Reisinger was named the D2CCA National Player of the Year, batting .544 on the year. She stole 60 bases this season, which also ties Burton's mark and the top spot in the country, but was 60-for-66 overall, with a 1.18 per game average.
