Dominican Softball's Joe Burbridge Celebrates 400th Career Win

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (April 4, 2019) Congratulations to coach Joe Burbridge who earned his 400th career win as head coach of the Dominican College Lady Chargers softball team. Coach Burbridge is in his 12thseason as head coach.

The Lady Chargers split a conference doubleheader with the Golden-Falcons of Felician University. DC fell in game one by a score of 4-2 in eight innings and bounced back in game two to down Felician 16-6 in five innings.

After the split, the Lady Chargers hold a record of 11-14 (8-4 CACC) and Felician is now 9-22 (5-7 CACC) on the season.

Game One: The Golden-Falcons earned a comeback victory in extra innings in game one by a score of 4-2. Trinity Garcia pitched a complete eight innings to earn her sixth win of the year.

Madeline Uschock (Greensburg, Pa.) pitched a strong game for the Lady Chargers by recording 10 strikeouts in seven innings of work but suffered the loss in game one.

The Scoring started in the third inning when Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) gave DC the lead on an RBI single. In the next inning, DC extended their lead to 2-0 on a solo homer by Alyssa Seiss (Queens, N.Y.).

In the top of the sixth inning, the Golden-Falcons rallied to tie the game. Krystina Lorch put Felician on the board with an RBI single. Nicole Spiegelberg recorded the second RBI when she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game.

In the extras, Felician took the lead on a throwing error after C.J. Apacible singled then advanced to third. Apacible scored after Steph Donah singled to make their lead 4-2. The Golden-Falcons secured the 4-2 win in extras.

Game Two: The Lady Chargers bounced back in game two for a big offensive effort in a 16-6 win in five innings. DC scored a run in the first inning and Felician answered with three runs in the second inning to take the lead.

DC used two big innings to blow the game open. Six runs in the third inning and nine runs in the fourth helped secure the victory in five innings.

Shelby Smith (Valley Center, Calif.) earned the win in five innings pitched and recorded four strikeouts along the way.

Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) recorded three hits including a two-run home run, two RBI, and scored two runs. Emily Luzetsky had two hits, three RBI, and scored two runs. Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) recorded two hits, two RBI, scored three runs, and stole four bases. Alyssa Seiss and Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) each drove in two RBI.

Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.), Shailei Kraft (Waverly, N.Y.), and Alyssa Schwalb (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) each recorded one RBI in the win.
