LAKEWOOD, N.J. (April 30, 2016) -- Danielle Bradley earned most valuable player honors, as she turned in another fantastic pitching performance in Wilmington University's 1-0 triumph over Holy Family University in Saturday's 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Championship Final at Field #1 on the Georgian Court University campus in Lakewood, N.J.

Bradley, who also earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team, worked into the seventh inning and scattered six hits with three strikeouts versus the Tigers. She capped her tournament with a shutout victory, while also turning the same trick (CG, 1-hitter) in WilmU's first game of the championship on Thursday versus Concordia College.

Bradley did hit some trouble in the top of the sixth with the Wildcats nursing the one-run lead. Holy Family loaded the bases with just one out, but Bradley was able to get Alexis Maggi to pop up to first base and then got Kristine Casey to line out to short to end the threat. She went into the seventh, but after a leadoff hit from Koreen Orozco, Bradley was pulled in favor of Caitlyn Whiteside, who came on in relief and got three outs to nail down the save.

Bradley's pitching, along with timely hitting in other games in the championship enabled her to earn MVP honors. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammates Meghan Brown, Becca Stanley and Taylor Rizzotte. Brown earned a spot on the squad after blasting a solo home run over the left field fence in the third inning, as it was the only run the Wildcats would need with Bradley dealing in the circle.

Cambria Ziemba went 2-for-3 at the dish in the leadoff spot for Wilmington, while Colby Wyatt and Shannon Brantley each collected a base hit.

Brianna Scotto had two hits for Holy Family, while Bailey Walters was just as strong in the pitching circle for the Tigers despite suffering the tough loss. She went the distance and yielded just Brown's homer and four other hits over seven innings of work. Walters was named to the All-Tournament Team and was joined by Orozco and Samantha Klem. Orozco was strong at the plate and in the circle for HFU, while Klem had several timely hits, including the go-ahead home run on Friday versus Bloomfield College to reach Saturday's championship final.

The rest of the All-Tournament Team included Post University's Kristen Owens, Dominican College's Shannon Haukap, Concordia College's Sarah Ross, Felician University's Ashley Owen, Caldwell University's Marisa Monasseri and Sydney Ponto and Bloomfield's Kirsten Wilson and Veronica Cobos.

With the win, Wilmington earned the CACC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament, which will be held next weekend. It marked the program's second CACC title in the past three seasons, as the Wildcats won the school's first CACC title in the sport in 2014.

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is an NCAA Division II Conference composed of 14 institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The member institutions are Bloomfield College, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Concordia (N.Y.) College, Dominican (N.Y.)
