FINAL STATS - BLOOMFIELD VS. POST

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (April 28, 2012) - Dominican College wasted no time in setting the tone on the final day of the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Championship on Saturday as it erupted for five first-inning runs before cruising to a 9-0 win in five innings over Bloomfield to claim its third consecutive conference crown.

Bloomfield, which entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed, began the day by beating No. 5 Post 5-4 in the first game of the day to set up the meeting with Dominican for the conference title.  The Deacons, who finish the season 32-22, used home runs off the bat off Krystina Poloni (Pearl River, N.Y.) and Brandi Hoffman (Clara City, Minn.) to spark the victory.

Dominican (36-15) entered the tourney as the No. 1 seed and posted a perfect 4-0 mark en route to the title and the automatic berth in the 2012 NCAA Division II Softball Championship.

The Chargers put together a five-run first inning that was sparked by a leadoff home run by 2012 CACC Tournament Most Valuable Player, Julie Plante (Swansea, Mass.).  Bloomfield didn't help its cause as it committed three errors in the opening frame, which proved large in Dominican opening up the early 5-0 advantage.

Brielle Kerschner (Staten Island, N.Y.) ripped a solo home run in the fourth to increase the margin to 6-0 before Dominican put the game away three more runs to account for the final 9-0 margin.

Joining Dominican's Plante on the 2012 CACC All-Tournament squad is Delaney Childers (Dominican), Deidre Jeppson (Dominican), Ashley Corrao (Dominican), Paige Berza (Dominican), Angie Yoshizu (Bloomfield), Amanda Svenson (Bloomfield), Ally Schraer (Bloomfield), Lianna May (Post), Ashley Cummings (Post), Carissa Trujillo (Felician), Kristen Tenwolde (Felician), Briana Gaspich (Caldwell), Brooke Berger (Wilmington), Deanna Myers (Holy Family) and Rachel Ruch (Georgian Court).
