TU AND SANSEVERA CLAIM CACC SOFTBALL WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Samantha Tu of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 8. Georgian Court University's Diana Sansevera was the choice for Pitcher of the Week and GCU's Rachel Ruch was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

Tu, a junior outfielder from Trevose, PA, hit .500 (15-for-30) in eight games last week with seven runs batted in, four runs scored and two doubles. She recorded at least one hit in every game, and picked up three hits in two games and two hits in three others.

Sansevera, a sophomore righty from Manalapan, NJ, went 4-1 on the week with one save and a 0.65 ERA. She allowed only 22 hits in 43.0 innings of work and fanned 69, including 18 in a 9-inning win over Dowling. She also struck out 12 batters in a 2-0 shutout over Bellarmine.

Ruch, a freshman infielder from Edison, NJ, hit .320 for the week with six RBI and four runs scored in 10 games. She homered in her first collegiate game against Clarion and hit another round-tripper later in the week against Clarion.

Honorable Mention

Courtney Cuevas, Georgian Court (So., 3B, Fords, NJ) - Hit .433 in 10 games with six RBI and four runs scored.

Amanda Cordrey, Wilmington (So., C, 5-4, Millsboro, DE) - Hit .448 in 12 games with nine RBI and four runs scored.

Rachel Morgan, USP (Jr., RHP, 5-6, Clackamas, OR) - Won two of USP's three games in FL and picked up a shutout against Lake Erie. Also batted .429 for the week.

CACC Notes

Georgian Court - The Lions posted a 7-3 record a the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL, the team's best showing in four trips to the tournament. GCU is ranked 20th in the latest NFCA National Poll.

Holy Family - Holy Family began its season with 10 games at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida. The Tigers went 4-6 by picking up wins against Clarion, Kutztown, Lake Erie and St. Xavier. This week, Holy Family returns home to face Millersville on Thursday in Bristol, Pa. and travel to West Chester for a double-header on Saturday.
