LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 12, 2009) - Georgian Court hurler Diana Sansevera (So.-Manalapan, NJ/St. John Vianney) has been named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending March 8th, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Wednesday.

Sansevera was outstanding for the Lions' softball team last week at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL, as the sophomore hurler went 4-1 with a 0.65 ERA in nine appearances. Diana was dominant as she allowed only 22 hits over 43.0 innings of work, while fanning 69 batters (7.0 per appearance and 10.6 per start), including 18 in a nine-inning affair vs. regional rival, Dowling College, a game GCU won, 4-3. She also struck out 10 and 12, respectfully, in complete-game shutouts of Lake Superior State University and Bellarmine University on March 6th. She also earned a save in GCU's win over California (PA) on March 5th, striking out nine during 3.2 innings of relief.

Georgian Court climbed from No. 20 to No. 12 in this week's NFCA Top 25 Poll after going 7-3 overall in the Rebel Games.
