DC'S BURBRIDGE NOTCHES 100TH CAREER VICTORY

Orangeburg, NY (4/24/09)  - Dominican College Head Softball Coach, Joseph Burbridge, notched his 100th career win yesterday afternoon as the Lady Chargers swept Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent, Post University at the DC Softball Field.

Coach Burbridge was named Head Softball Coach in June of 2008 after spending the 2008 season as the Interim Head Coach.  He returned to DC after spending the 2007 season as the Adelphi University Head Coach.  He compiled a record of 39-13, while setting a school record for wins.  The Panthers won the ECC Regular Season Title with a 18-2 record and was ranked as high as 8th in the country, in addition to earning a berth in the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Burbridge spent the 2005 and 2006 seasons as an assistant coach on the Dominican staff. As the Interim Coach in 2008, he led the Lady Chargers to a 30-24 overall record and an 18-4 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) this season.  The team finished in third place in the CACC and swept a non-conference double-header from the eventual CACC Champions, Caldwell College.  DC went into the CACC Tournament with the third place seed and lost in the semi-finals to Holy Family University. He returned to Dominican last season as an assistant.

Coach Burbridge's career record now stands at 100-49 and is record at DC is 61-36.  Dominican defeated Post University 11-3 in five innings and 11-7 yesterday to mark Burbridge's 100th career win.

The Lady Chargers are currently 31-12 overall and 17-2 in the CACC and are ranked eighth in the NCAA East Region.  The team is on a 12 game winning streak and are second in the CACC standings behind Caldwell College.
