13 Standouts Named to CACC Men's Tennis All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 1, 2019) -- Thirteen (13) student-athletes on Wednesday were named to the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. The 13 student-athletes represent four of the programs that compete in the sport at the varsity level.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.

Five student-athletes on the team sported cumulative grade point averages of 3.90 or higher, including Chestnut Hill College's Jesus Darias, who owns a 3.97 in his major of computer science. Darias' GPA also enabled him to earn the CACC Top XVI Award at the conference men's tennis championship this past weekend for having the highest GPA at the final's site of all student-athletes competing during the weekend.

The other 3.90 or higher GPAs included Adam Gavin (CHC, 3.94), Tomer Mendler (Concordia College, 3.90), Samuel Urban (Post University, 3.92) and Borna Novak (University of the Sciences, 3.91).

Eight of the 13 honorees were named to the CACC All-Academic Team for at least the second time in their respective career, including three who were named for the third time.
