BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (April 27, 2019) – The Concordia College men's tennis team made it two-straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships on Saturday, and nine titles overall since joining the league, as the Clippers clipped Chestnut Hill College, 4-0 on Saturday in the 2019 championship final in Bronxville, N.Y. Concordia improved to 16-3 overall, while CHC dipped to 17-6.

Concordia locked up the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament, which will be held on May 11-12, at a site to be determined. The Clippers are currently ranked first in the latest regional rankings and Saturday's outcome figures to keep the team in the spot next week. The Griffins are currently ranked third in the NCAA East Region Poll, as CHC will now await word to see if it earned an at-large bid to the regional tournament.

The two swing points in the contest came on court No. 3 in both No. 3 doubles and No. 3 singles, as a 7-5 tiebreaker point victory by the Clippers. The first tiebreaker came at No. 3 doubles, as the Concordia team of Michele Fenoaltea and Max Grundmann claimed the victory over Kai Adler and Thibault Gasser to clinch the first overall team point of the afternoon and send the Clippers into singles with a 1-0 advantage.

Then, in the No. 3 singles match, Henry Masters outlasted Erik Jorsal, 7-5, in the opener and then posted a 7-6 mark with the tiebreaker point going Masters' way at 7-5 to clinch the straight-set win. That victory was the fourth and final point Concordia needed to claim the CACC crown for the second time in as many seasons.

Doubles play began with a win for Chestnut Hill, as the No. 1 team of Jorsal and Tom Pitchley picked up a 6-3 victory over Jan Godfrey Seno and William Nilsson. However, Concordia rallied with a 6-4 win at No. 2, thanks to the outstanding play of Masters and Eymeric Chevalier. The split at Nos. 1 and 2 put all the pressure on court three where Fenoaltea and Grundmann sealed the point with their thrilling win.

Concordia posted three straight-set wins in singles to sweep the afternoon. In addition to Masters' victory, Chevalier posted a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Pitchley at No. 1, while Fenoaltea bested Jesus Darias at No. 2 with scores of 6-1, 6-4.
