MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (April 22, 2018) -- Following a one-year hiatus as a varsity program, Concordia College returned in 2018 and has done so in fine fashion. The Clippers added to their amazing return Sunday with a 5-0 victory over Chestnut Hill in the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Championship Final at the Edgewood Bath & Tennis Club in Middlebury, Conn.

With the win, Concordia earned the CACC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament, which will be held later this month at sites to be determined.

Concordia got the momentum rolling by sweeping all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, the team of Alessandro Evangelisti and Eymeric Chevalier defeated CHC's top duo of Lucas Bocaletto and Pedro Regalin by a count of 8-3. The win in doubles helped Evangelisti lock up most valuable player honors for the tournament.

At both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, Concordia's side fell behind early, but battled back for wins to make it 3-0 in the team score. The No. 2 team of Axel Oljons and William Nilsson won 8-4, and the No. 3 unit of Michele Fenoaltea and Henry Masters produced an 8-6 triumph.

Oljons and Fenoaltea made it a sweep for the entire match, as they produced wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots in singles action. Oljons got Concordia's first singles win of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Regalin, while Fenoaltea won moments later with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Adam Gavin.

It marked the second-consecutive 5-0 win for Concordia, as the Clippers downed Jefferson in Saturday's semifinals by an identical count.
