PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 23, 2017) -- Victor Iove claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles, as his victory was not only the fifth team point for Chestnut Hill College on Sunday, but it also clinched the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Championship for the top-seeded Griffins at the CHC Tennis Courts in Philadelphia.

Chestnut Hill defeated second-seeded Post University, 5-0, on Sunday to claim the first CACC title in school history -- regardless of sport -- which set off an intense celebration by the program and school administrators in attendance. It was a fitting reward for the school, which has seen several of its programs reach CACC Championship Final events over the past few years before coming up just short.

Sunday, though, the Griffins took advantage of the opportunity and claimed the first championship banner for the athletic department. Chestnut Hill got off to a strong start by sweep the three doubles matches. The No. 2 duo of Lucas Bocaletto and Pedro Regalin earned the first team point for the Griffins, as they claimed an 8-2 triumph, while Felix Andre and Antoine Gautier followed at No. 3 doubles with an 8-1 victory. Chestnut Hill's top tandem of Pierre Kohler and Jonathan Ducretot made it a perfect 3-for-3 in doubles with a hard-fought 8-6 triumph over Post's top duo of Nikola Crvelin and Ludvig Henrikson.

Ducretot, who after the match was named the most valuable player of the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record (2 singles wins & 2 doubles victories), got the singles wins started for CHC with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ivan Rajevac

Not long after that, Iove won his singles contest versus Joe Alvord to seal the win. If Iove did not complete the victory, Andre was not too far behind, as he led his second set versus Henrikson by a 5-2 margin after winning the opening set.

With the win, Chestnut Hill locked up the league's automatic bid to next weekend's NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. The Griffins are 15-5 overall. Post, which fell to 12-8, will await word to see if it earned an at-large bid to the NCAAs, which will be announced on Tuesday night.
