NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 19, 2017) -- Chestnut Hill College standout Pierre Kohler on Wednesday was named the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Player of the Year, as announced on Wednesday by Commissioner Dan Mara. Chestnut Hill swept the 2017 major individual awards in the sport, as the voting for the all-conference awards was conducted by the league's six head coaches in the sport.

In addition to Kohler, Griffin freshman Antoine Gautier was named the 2017 CACC Rookie of the Year and head coach Ryan Gargullo was tabbed as the 2017 BSN Sports CACC Coach of the Year. The other major award announced on Wednesday was the 2017 Team Sportsmanship Award, as Bloomfield College took home that honor.

Kohler, who has competed at the No. 1 singles spot for Chestnut Hill this season, has produced a 14-3 overall record, including a perfect 5-0 mark in conference play. He was also named to this year's All-CACC First Team for his impressive play. It marks the second-straight year he earned a major award from the conference, as last season he was named the CACC Rookie of the Year, while also earning a spot on the all-conference first team.

Gautier has had an outstanding rookie season, as he is 11-7 overall and 5-0 in league action. He was named to the All-CACC Second Team in addition to his major honor. Gargullo was named the conference's top coach after guiding the Griffins to a 13-5 overall record and a 5-0 mark in league play, as Chestnut Hill captured the CACC regular season championship.

Bloomfield earned the league's sportsmanship award, as the team under the guidance of head coach Peter-John Falloon, demonstrated class and character throughout the entire 2016-17 campaign.

Joining Kohler on the All-CACC First Team were Felix Andre (Chestnut Hill), Nikola Crvelin (Post University), Jonathan Ducretot (CHC), Ivan Rajevac (Post) and Jake Sosonkin (University of the Sciences).

Gautier was joined on the All-CACC Second Team by Jacobo Atri (Philadelphia University), Oskar Haedicke (PhilaU), Ludvig Henrikson (Post), Luis Molina Megias (PhilaU) and Nathan Nguyen (USciences).

Every all-conference honoree and major award winner will be taking part in this weekend's CACC Championship tournament, which will be held Saturday-Sunday on the Chestnut Hill campus in Philadelphia. The semifinals will be held on Saturday with CHC facing PhilaU in the first match at 10 a.m., followed by the second contest at 1 p.m. between Post and USciences. Saturday's two winners will advance to Sunday's championship final, which will be contested at 1 p.m. at CHC.
