NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 15, 2015) -- A spring season which has seen the Concordia College men's tennis team ranked among the top-10 nationally, added another amazing moment on Wednesday as the Clippers swept the major year-end conference awards in the sport, as announced by Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Commissioner Dan Mara.

Senior standout Benas Majauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania) was named the 2015 CACC Player of the Year, while rookie standout Jui Mao (Taipei, Taiwan) garnered the league's Rookie-of-the-Year honor. In addition, head coach Neil Tarangioli was named the BSN Sports/CACC Coach of the Year for his masterful guidance of the Clippers, who also earned the conference's Team Sportsmanship Award. Bloomfield College shared the sportsmanship honor with Concordia, as the Bears finished with the same point total in the voting for the award conducted by the league's head coaches.

If that weren't enough, four Clippers were named to the All-CACC First-Team, including Majauskas, Mao, Rafael Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Jusso Ojanen (Varkaus, Finland). Lorenzo Montegiorgi (Velletri, Italy) and Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) rounded out Concordia's award-winning day, as the duo was placed on the All-CACC Second-Team.

Majauskas has been nothing short of spectacular this season, as he is 16-2, including riding a nine-match winning streak entering this weekend's CACC Championship at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Pa. He went 6-0 in CACC play and dropped only six points in his last six matches combined. He is currently ranked third in the East Region according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), while ranking 37th nationally.

Mao has enjoyed a stellar debut collegiate season, as he is 13-4 in singles, including an 11-4 mark at the No. 1 spot. He has faced some of the nation's top individual players, as three of his four setbacks have come against players ranked among the top-13 in the country. Mao, though, has more than held his own against the nation's best, as he has won three times against nationally-ranked players, including a 7-6, 6-4 triumph over Armstrong State's Fernando Bogajo, who entered the match ranked fifth in the country. Mao is currently ranked 20th in the national ITA rankings, while holding down the second-place spot in the association's regional rankings.

Tarangioli was selected as the conference's coach of the year, as the voting was done by the league's sports information directors. CACC SIDs were more than impressed with Tarangioli's leadership of the Clippers, who won the conference's regular season crown with a perfect 6-0 record in league play. Concordia is 15-4 overall and ranked No. 6 in the ITA national poll.

Concordia was not only a standout on the courts this year, but also in the realm of sportsmanship, as the Clippers shared the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award with Bloomfield. The award is designed to recognize a team in each CACC championship sport that demonstrates true sportsmanship and goodwill through competition.

Concordia was not the only school to be recognized on Wednesday, as several other CACC men's tennis standouts were recognized with all-conference accolades.

The other two members on the six-man All-CACC First-Team were Chestnut Hill College's Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) and Post University's Martin Munoz (Las Palmas, Spain).

The All-CACC Second-Team was comprised not only of Montegiorgi and Olfans, but also Chestnut Hill's Steven Say (Cannes, France), Philadelphia University's Celso de Vera Rehberger (Oviedo, Spain), Bloomfield's Thulani Hove (Highland Park, N.Y.) and University of the Sciences' Steven Galerkin (San Francisco, Calif.).

The announcement of the All-CACC Men's Tennis teams and major awards come just days prior to the start of the conference championship, which will be held this Saturday and Sunday at Chestnut Hill. Championship weekend begins on Saturday with the semifinals at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The day's first contest will feature top-seeded Concordia taking on fourth-seeded PhilaU, while the second match will showcase second-seed Chestnut Hill facing third-seeded Post. The two semifinal winners will square off in the conference championship final on Sunday at 12 p.m.
