NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 25, 2019) -- Fifty-five (55) student-athletes on Monday were named to the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. The total represents 12 of the 13 schools that sponsor the sport at the varsity level in the CACC.

Goldey-Beacom College's Elijah Howe and Jefferson's Sebastien Durand led the way with the highest cumulative grade point averages on the team, as both posted marks of 4.0. Howe, a sophomore, is majoring in business administration, while the senior Durand is a marketing major. In all, 11 student-athletes on the list posted GPAs of 3.90 or higher.

Twenty-three (23) student-athletes qualified for the CACC Men's Soccer All-Academic Team for at least the second time in their respective careers, while 11 of those made it for the third time.

Goldey-Beacom led the way with nine honorees, as Howe's 4.0 was the leading GPA. Georgian Court University, which reached the CACC Championship Final, was next in line with eight on the list. Sophomore Niklas Laenger had the highest mark on the GCU squad with a 3.94 GPA in his major of chemistry. Post University, which claimed the CACC Championship for the second year in a row, had four make the all-academic team.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.
