NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 19, 2019) -- A pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer programs earned bids to the 2019 NCAA Division II Super Region I Tournament, as announced on Monday night by the NCAA. Wilmington University earned an at-large bid to the regional and was tabbed as the tournament's fifth seed, while Post University advanced via the automatic bid from the CACC by winning the league championship and received the No. 9 seed.

Post will get its NCAA run underway on Thursday when the Eagles take on No. 8 seed Millersville on the Adelphi University campus in Garden City, N.Y. The match kicks off at 6 p.m., and the winner will face No. 1 seed Adelphi on Saturday in the second round.

Wilmington earned a first-round bye and will take on fourth-seeded Franklin Pierce in the second round on Saturday at 6 p.m., on the FPU campus in Rindge, N.H.

ADDITIONAL WILMINGTON INFORMATION

For the third time in five years, WilmU has earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament. Wilmington (17-2-1) will head to the National Tournament for the second consecutive year as the No. 5 seed. Last year, the Wildcats defeated No. 4 Le Moyne, 4-1, before falling to No. 9 Adelphi, 2-1.

This is the first year using the new bracket format, as the NCAA combined two regions to form four Super Regions. The East is combined with the Atlantic Region for the Super Region 1 title.

The other half of the bracket will be hosted by No. 2 Gannon, who will face the winner of No. 7 West Chester and No. 10 Assumption, and No. 3 Charleston (WV), who will face off with No. 6 Mercy on Saturday afternoon.

Franklin Pierce finished 13-3-2 overall this season, and second in the NE10 Conference. The Ravens defeated Bentley in the quarterfinals of the NE10 Tournament, 5-1, but fell in the semifinal to Saint Rose in penalty kicks.

This is the fifth time in program history for Wilmington's men's soccer team to reach the NCAA DII East Regional Tournament. They also went to the dance in 2009, 2013, 2015, and 2018, advancing to the Second Round in each year.

ADDITIONAL POST INFORMATION

It is the fourth time the Eagles (14-3-3) have made the NCAA tournament. They also made it in 2012, 2013 and 2018. They earned the automatic bid out of the CACC after defeating Georgian Court, 1-0 on Sunday.

Like Post, Millersville (13-5-2) also claimed their second straight conference title as it defeated Gannon, 1-0 in the PSAC championship game. Gannon is the No. 2 seed in the Super Region. In 2011, the Marauders made the semifinals.
