Late Tevin Blake Goal Caps Wild 3-2 Bloomfield Win in CACC Men's Soccer Championship Final

WATERBURY, Conn. (November 7, 2015) -- Tevin Blake scored in the 87th minute to snap a 2-all tie and lift Bloomfield College to a 3-2 triumph over Chestnut Hill College in the 2015 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Championship Final on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field in Waterbury, Conn.

Blake's winning tally came in response to a two-goal surge by Chestnut Hill to tie things up after the Bears went up 2-0 early in the contest. Blake worked his way down the left side and into the box and slipped a shot towards the goal that handcuffed Griffin goalkeeper James Jackson, and beat his diving attempt to the lower right portion of the net.

The winning tally propelled Blake to the tournament's most valuable player award and a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Bloomfield appeared to be on the way for an easy championship victory, as the Bears popped in a pair of tallies in the opening eight minutes and only a few minutes after that rang a shot of the post that could have made it a three-goal cushion.

Rafique Roberts scored in the seventh minute off a nice crossing pass from Hugues Douyon, and in the eighth minute Kareem Kennedy took a beautiful corner kick attempt from Paulo Claudio and chipped in the ball for a 2-0 lead. Both Douyon and Claudio earned assists on their respective plays. Claudio and Kennedy joined Blake on the All-Tournament Team, and two other Bears gained spots on the squad, including goalkeeper Wilson Cisneros and Shaunavon DeSouza.

It took only seven minutes for Chestnut Hill to right itself from the early haymaker thrown by Bloomfield. Nils Fussen directed in a corner kick from Nicholas Jaffe in the 14th minute to cut the deficit in half. The marker kick-started an offensive surge for the Griffins over the remainder of the first half and into the early going of the second half.

Jaffe began controlling the ball on his foot and setting up his teammates. A Bloomfield foul in the box allowed Jaffe to attempt a penalty kick in the 62nd minute, and his attempt was a quick strike to the left corner that Cisneros had no chance to make a stop.

It marked the second-consecutive match Jaffe drilled home a PK, as he turned the trick in overtime on Thursday to lift Chestnut Hill to a thrilling 2-1 triumph over top-seed Wilmington University. In fact, Jaffe had a hand in all four goals scored by CHC during championship weekend, as he scored both against WilmU, added the PK against Bloomfield and assisted on Fussen's marker. Needless to say, Jaffe's spectacular performance enabled him to land on the All-Tournament Team.

Jaffe was joined by Fussen and Joseph McGuigan on the All-Tournament Team. Cisneros made two saves to earn the win in net, while Jackson stopped four despite suffering the loss.

Bloomfield improved to 11-6-2 with the win, while CHC fell to 8-7-3.
