BLOOMFIELD'S GIBBS SELECTED 2011 CACC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR

BLOOMFIELD'S GIBBS SELECTED 2011 CACC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Oct. 31, 2011)  - Bloomfield College senior forward Terry Gibbs has been selected the 2011 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer Player of the Year, as the All-Conference team was released Monday. Holy Family University's Nicolas Delgado was named Rookie of the Year, while Post University's Ted Haley was voted Coach of the Year. Goldey-Beacom College was given the annual Team Sportsmanship Award. The 12 CACC head coaches conducted the voting.

This is the second consecutive season that the conference Player of the Year has come from Bloomfield, as Dwayne Reid was the 2010 recipient.  Gibbs, who hails from London, England, is currently second in the nation in scoring with 18 goals, and leads the CACC in goals and total points with 43.  After scoring just a single goal during Bloomfield's first seven matches, the striker erupted for 17 goals over the team's final 10 contests, notching hat tricks against three CACC opponents (Concordia, Wilmington and Holy Family).  One of the top offensive players in the country, Gibbs ranks fourth in Division II soccer in points per game (2.71) and has recorded at least a single point in Bloomfield's last 10 matches.  Fifth in the nation in total points, Gibbs also ranks second in the country in goals per game (1.14).  The senior has registered six multi-goal games and seven game-winning goals this season.

Delgado, a freshman midfielder from Philadelphia, PA, ranks second on the team in scoring with 13 point on the strength of six goals and one assist.  He scored a career-high two goals in the 4-2 victory at Goldey-Beacom on Sept. 20, capping a four-game stretch in which he scored a goal.  Furthermore, he earned CACC Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 18. Delgado and the Tigers are the No. 5 seed for this week's CACC Tournament and will travel to No. 4 Bloomfield Monday afternoon at 2:00 pm.

Haley guided the Eagles to the top seed for this week's CACC Tournament by going 9-3-4 overall and 8-2-1 in conference play. The Eagles are ranked seventh in the East Region heading into postseason play. Haley has guided Post to a postseason appearance every season since taking over the program seven years ago, including a CACC Championship in 2008.
