HEEMBROCK LEADS DOMINICAN TO 2010 CACC MEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Dominican College, led by junior goalkeeper Brandon Heembrock, took home the 2010 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Championship Saturday at Georgian Court University by winning its third penalty kick shootout of the week. The score was knotted, 2-2, after regulation and two overtime periods, setting up Dominican's thrilling 4-2 shootout win over top_seed Bloomfield College.

Heembrock led the Chargers making two diving saves during the shootout, just two days after making four penalty kick saves in a semi-final win over Philadelphia University. The Chargers, the No. 3 seed for the tournament, also recorded a shootout victory in the quarter-finals over defending tournament champion, Nyack College. Heembrock was named Tournament MVP for his performance. He made eight saves on the day.

Dominican (12-3-5) took a 1-0 lead at the 21:18 mark as sophomore forward Alex Rodier netted his team leading 10th goal of the season off the assist from the CACC Rookie of the Year Sony Narro.

Bloomfield (15-3-2) tied the contest late in the 39th minute on an own goal, as junior Terry Gibbs battled with two Chargers in front of the net. The Deacons took a 2-1 lead at 73:17 on a rebounded ball after a Heembrock save, as CACC Player of the Year Dwayne Reid was able to knock the ball to the back of the net.

DC tied the game at 2-2 on an own goal of their own after a corner kick and a scramble in the box.

DC received shootout goals from Pedro Franklin De Araujo, Rodier, Narro and Jorge Zubillaga.
