POST CLAIMS CACC MEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP
Nov 8, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA--Post University won the 2008 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Tournament Championship with a convincing 6-2 triumph over Holy Family University on Saturday evening in Philadelphia. It is Post's first conference championship since the Eagles won three straight titles from 1996-1998.

Post, the fourth seed, raced out to a 3-0 halftime lead on two goals by junior midfielder Johan Pineda and a single tally by junior forward Eurica Trowers. Pineda was named the Tournament MVP at the conclusion of the event, while Trowers, freshman forward Francis Eno, junior midfielder Mike Semedo and junior co-captain Andrew Nelson were selected to the All-Tournament team.

Post added to its lead early in the second half when senior midfielder Alex Brito found the back of the net in the 53rd minute.

Despite the deficit, No. 6 Holy Family made things interesting by scoring two straight goals just one minute and 11 seconds apart, by sophomore Jason Lopez and senior Matt Kocher. But Post's offense was too good on this night, as the Eagles tacked on two more tallies in the 81st and 84th minutes off the feet of senior midfielder Jose Chavez and junior forward Abby Walker.

After upsetting third seeded Bloomfield and No. 2 Dominican to reach the championship game for the second straight season, the young Holy Family squad concludes the season with a 9-12-1 record.

Post has gone 7-0-2 in its last nine games and improves to 14-4-3 this season. The Eagles were able to avenge their only two blemishes over the last nine contests - ties against Caldwell and Wilmington - with victories over both squads en route to the CACC Championship.
