DOMINICAN WINS THIRD CONSECUTIVE CACC MEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP
Oct 29, 2006

RUTHERFORD, NJ - Dominican (N.Y.) College used a 70th-minute goal by junior forward Ryan Clancy (Pine Bush, NY) to win the championship game of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Tournament, 1-0, over Post University on Sunday evening. The match was hosted by Felician College at Tryon Field, and was a make-up of Saturday's rain-out.

Top-seeded Dominican (12-3-3), which won its third consecutive league championship, will learn on Monday of its status for the NCAA Division II Tournament.

On the game-winning goal, Charger defender Joseph Ruesgen (Campbeltown, Scotland) played a ball ahead to Jhonny Arteaga (Cali, Colombia), whose bicycle kick from the left of the penalty box found Clancy on the right side. Clancy, who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, put a short shot in the right side of the net at 69:23.

Dominican owned a 19-12 shot advantage, including 13-7 in the second half, and had a potential first-half goal called back on an offside call. Goalkeeper Robert Kelly (Kearny, NJ) made three saves for the shutout. Michael Aeschliman (Torrington, CT) had four saves for No. 3 seed Post (9-7-5).
