Wilmington Three-Peats as CACC Men's Golf Tournament Champions; Tighe Named Individual Medalist
Lafayette Hill, Pa. – Wilmington University extended its 11-shot first round lead to an 18-stroke margin as the Wildcats claimed its third-straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Golf Championship this afternoon. The tournament was hosted by Chestnut Hill College at the historic Whitemarsh Valley Country Club.
Wilmington outlasted Concordia College (629), Nyack College (632), Goldey-Beacom College (636) and Post University (657) to close out the top-five by claiming three of the top five individual performances.
Senior P.J. Tighe (Logan, N.J.) claimed his second consecutive CACC Individual Medalist title after carding a 76 on the final day of competition and a two-day score of 150. He started the day only one stroke off the pace, tied with teammate junior Jerry Temple (Newark, Del.) who finished second in the tournament one stroke behind Tighe.
The leader after day one was Concordia's Eutimio Fernandez Meade (Mexico City, Mexico) who completed the par-72 course in third place with a total of 152. Rounding out the CACC All-Tournament Team members were Wilmington's Andreas Lunding of Horsholm, Denmark (153) and Post's Thomas Rees of Cardiff, Wales (154).
