Jefferson @ Dominican Hoops DH on Jan. 18 Selected to be Part of NCAA Division II Basketball Showcase

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 20, 2019) -- The NCAA announced on Tuesday the Jefferson at Dominican College men's and women's hoops doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, will be part of the NCAA Division II Basketball Showcase. In addition to both games being aired on the CACC Network, the doubleheader will also appear on the NCAA's various social media accounts — specifically, Division II Facebook (facebook.com/ncaadivisionii) and Twitter (@NCAADII).

The NCAA will send in an all-ecompassing broadcast crew to produce the webcasts, including multiple camera angles, pre, halftime and post-game shows, and interviews with various school and conference administrators. The broadcasts are part of the NCAA's hybrid model, which sends the broadcasts to various social media accounts so fans can view the broadcasts in a variety of ways (mobile devices, computer, online, TV) no matter where they are in the world. The NCAA used this hybrid model to great success for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) basketball doubleheader between Bloomfield College and Caldwell University last December.

The basketball doubleheader between the Rams and Chargers will tip off on Jan. 18, at 2 p.m., with the women's game, followed by the men's game at 4 p.m. The contests will be held on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center on the Dominican campus in Orangeburg, N.Y.

On the women's side, the game will feature a pair of teams who are expected to compete for their respective division titles during the 2019-20 regular season. Dominican claimed the CACC North Division Championship last season, while Jefferson is the defending conference champion and also appearing in last year's NCAA Division II East Region Tournament.

The men's side will showcase a pair of teams who have met in each of the last three postseasons, and who are expected to battle it out once again for the conference crown this year -- both teams were picked first in their respective divisions in the 2019-20 CACC Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll. Dominican defeated Jefferson in the 2017 CACC Semifinals, while the Rams returned the favor a season later with a victory in the 2018 CACC Championship Final. The Chargers got the best of Jefferson last March in the semifinals on the way to eventually winning the 2019 CACC Championship.

The doubleheader will feature three head coaches who have combined for 2,319 career wins. Jefferson Men's Basketball Head Coach Herb Magee won his 1,100th career game on Tuesday night, while Jefferson's women's coach Tom Shirley owns 779 victories. Dominican Men's Basketball Coach Joe Clinton sports 440 career wins.

NCAA Division II announced its 28 regular-season men’s and women’s basketball games that will be highlighted on ESPN3 or social media as part of an effort to promote the division on several platforms throughout the academic year.

An additional eight games as part of four flex doubleheaders will be finalized in February. The games are expected to highlight premier and pivotal matchups toward the end of the regular season.
