CACC Men's Basketball Champion Dominican Earns #7 Seed in NCAA Division II East Region Tournament

OFFICIAL BRACKET FOR 2019 NCAA DIVISION II MEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 10, 2019) -- Fresh off winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship earlier in the day on Sunday, the Dominican College men's basketball team received more exciting news at night as the Chargers earned the No. 7 seed for next weekend's NCAA Division II East Region Tournament at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.

The Chargers received the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament after downing Bloomfield College, 70-55, in the CACC Final at Caldwell University in Caldwell, N.J.

Dominican will face second-seeded Merrimack in Saturday's first round, as the Warriors enter the regional as the NE-10 Champion. A win over Merrimack would advance the Chargers to the second round where they would face the winner of the 3-6 contest between Le Moyne (#3) and St. Thomas Aquinas (#6).

It marks the second-consecutive year a CACC team received the No. 7 seed in the East Regional. But don't let the lower seed fool you as last year's No. 7 seed, Bloomfield College, blitzed a majority of the teams in the field with a sizzling shooting performance to reach the regional final.

Dominican will enter the regional on a roll, as the Chargers used stingy defense and crisp ball movement throughout the CACC tournament to rack up the conference crown. The Chargers held opponents to under 60 points in each of their three wins in the conference tournament and limited the opposition to a combined 33-of-120 shooting from the field in the semis and final.
