Philadelphia, Pa. –  About 125 athletes under the age of 35 die from an enlarged heart, or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, each year in the United States. The condition is often missed due to poor medical screening. The Face of heart disease comes in many different forms. Some were born with heart defects, some has suffered effects of heart disease, some have experienced a heart attack or stroke, and some have yet to be diagnosed. In support of the American Heart Association (AHA), the Chestnut Hill College men's and women's basketball teams will take a stand against heart disease during their upcoming home games against Wilmington University on February 5, with a "Red-Out".

The Griffins encourage all in attendance to participate and wear red in support of the cause. From today, Monday, January 14, until Thursday, January 24, members of the men's and women's basketball teams will be selling the official "Rock the Beat" T-Shirts for $10 apiece outside the cafeteria between 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Donations to the cause are also welcome. To do so, please contact Chestnut Hill College Head Men's Basketball Coach, Jesse Balcer at 215-753-3790 or balcerj@chc.edu.
