NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Feb. 23, 2012) – Bloomfield senior guard Ahmad Harris (Linden, N.J.) and Dominican junior center Cory Quimby (Otisville, N.Y.) have been named as CACC Men's Basketball Co-Players of the Year after finishing tied in the final vote by the league's coaches.

University of the Sciences freshman Garret Kerr (Moorestown, N.J.) was honored as the CACC Rookie of the Year while Goldey-Beacom head coach Chuck Hammond was recognized as the CACC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year.

University of the Sciences also was selected as the winner of the CACC Men's Basketball Sportsmanship Award.

Harris started all 28 games and led the CACC in assists and ranked seventh nationally at 7.0 per game (197 total).  The 197 assists also eclipsed the CACC single-season assist mark of 195, which was established by Holy Family's Chris Kozole in 2004-05.  The 5-9 guard also led the league in steals with 64 and assist turnover ratio at 2.95, which was sixth-best nationally.  In addition, Harris tallied a 10.4 ppg scoring average while helping to guide the Deacons to a 21-7 overall record (15-3 CACC) and the North Division title.

Quimby ranks second in the CACC in rebounding at 11.5 rpg (2^nd in NCAA) and third in scoring at 18.1 ppg while leading Dominican to an 18-8 overall mark and second place in the CACC North Division at 11-7.  Quimby posted the second-most double-doubles in the league with 19.  The 6-6 center also shot a .552 clip from the field on the year and led the conference in field goals made at 191.

Kerr was a seven-time CACC Rookie of the Week and a two-time CACC Player of the Week.  The freshman forward enjoyed a breakthrough rookie campaign which saw him lead the nation in rebounding (13.0 rpg) and double-doubles (21).  He has notched a double-double in each of his last 20 games – which is the longest streak in NCAA Division II this season.

Hammond was selected as CACC Coach of the Year by his peers for the second time in his career after guiding the Lightning to a 16-10 overall mark and a 13-4 CACC record and the South Division title.  This marks the second consecutive season that Goldey-Beacom has captured the South Division under Hammond.  He was previously named CACC Coach of the year in 2005-06.

Joining Harris and Quimby on the All-CACC First Team were Jim Connolly (Philadelphia), Leon Porter (Dominican) and Corye Payton (Wilmington).

Connolly ranked fourth among CACC scoring leaders at 17.6 ppg while helping guide Philadelphia to an 18-8 overall mark and a second-place finish in the South Division.  Porter also checked in among the conference's scoring leaders at eighth with a 16.8 ppg average.  Both Porter and Connolly were second-team All-CACC choices in 2010-11.

Payton's selection marked the first time he has earned an all-league mention.  The senior guard led the CACC in scoring in conference games at 19.8 ppg and notched double-figure points in 24 games this season, including the last 19 straight.

The All-CACC second team consisted of Argelix Gil (Concordia), Marcus Porter (Goldey Beacom), Mark Dirugeris Jr. (Chestnut Hill), Kerr (USciences) and Matt Wafula (Bloomfield).

Third team selections included Nikola Otivic (Caldwell), Dan Comas (Chestnut Hill), Temi Adebayo (Philadelphia), Rickie Crews (Holy Family) and Khiry Hankins (Holy Family).

Alberto Munoz (Holy Family), A.J. Picard (Goldey-Beacom), Jake Wilcox (Post) and Josh Lopez (Post) each were named honorable mention All-CACC.
