PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 3, 2009) - Former
Holy Family University men's basketball guard Ryan Lancaster (Egg
Harbor Twp., N.J./Egg Harbor) has signed a one-year contract to
play for Gimle Basket in Norway.
"I'm really excited about this opportunity to play in this league
and be back in Europe," said
Lancaster. "Europe is the place to be to play basketball outside
of the United States."
Gimle Basket is a member of BLNO, which is the premier league in
Norway. Last season, Gimle went 9-12 overall and qualified for the
play-offs.
This is Lancaster's second trip to Europe since graduating from
Holy Family in 2008. After graduation, Lancaster signed a one-year
contract to play for TV 1862 Langen in Germany. During the 2008-09
season, he averaged 4.6 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. Lancaster
shot 39.3 percent from the field during his time in Germany.
Lancaster just completed a stint with the Washington Generals
during the Harlem Globetrotters "Spinning the Globe" tour.
Lancaster played throughout most of the U.S. along with trips to
Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia.
Lancaster is seventh on the Holy Family all-time career scoring
list with 1,636 points. In 2008, Lancaster was named to the
All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) first team. As a
junior, he was an All-CACC second team selection. He was tabbed for
the All-CACC third team in 2006 as a sophomore.
