YOUNG, OBERY, LEAD FELICIAN TO CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Felician College men's basketball team has won the 2010 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Championship with an 84-79 title game victory over Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Falcons and first-year head coach David DeFerrari have claimed the CACC's automatic berth into the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament.

This is the first CACC Men's Basketball title for Felician and the Golden Falcons will be making the school's first trip to an NCAA Division II Regional in any sport. The field for the tournament will be announced Sunday night at 9:30 pm and will be webcast on NCAA.com.

After having to overcome a 23-point second half deficit in Friday's semi-final victory over Philadelphia University, Felician was the team to jump out early in the title game. Felician led by 20 at halftime, 46-26, and had to withstand a Goldey-Beacom rally in the second half.

The Lightning trimmed the deficit to four, 75-71, at the 3:48 mark with an 8-0 run that was capped by a Terrence Parkes three-pointer. But GBC was eventually forced to foul with under two minutes to go, allowing Felician to clinch the victory by making seven of its next eight from the stripe.

Felician junior guard/forward Devon Young was named the tournament Most Valuable Player after notching 23 points and eight rebounds in the championship, a day after pouring in a school-record 39 points in the semi-finals. Young shot 9-for-10 from the field against GBC. Sophomore Antoine Obery, who was named to the All-Tournament tea m, nearly recorded a triple-double with 22 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, along with four steals in 37 minutes of action. All-Tournament selection Suquan Gary added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the victors.

Felician, which was the No. 2 seed from the North Division in the conference tournament, will enter the NCAA Tournament with a 24-6 overall record.

Goldey-Beacom was led by senior Kyle White and junior Sam McDuffie, who both netted 21 points. Parkes, a junior forward, added 17 points and nine rebounds. The Lightning finish the season with a 19-10 record.
