PHILADELPHIA MEN'S BASKETBALL TO FACE TOP SEEDED C.W. POST AT NCAA REGIONAL

PHILADELPHIA, PA- The Philadelphia University men's basketball team (25-5, 14-2 CACC) has been selected as the #8 seed in the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball East Region Tournament, as announced on Sunday night. The team will face the tournament host and #1 seed C.W. Post (27-0) on Saturday, March 14th at 6 p.m.

"We've accomplished our first goal of winning the CACC championship this season, and on Saturday we'll continue to pursue the ultimate goal which is to win a regional and then a national championship," said head coach Herb Magee.

Philadelphia's 2008-09 tournament trip marks the 24th time that Coach Magee has taken his team to the "dance". The Rams received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year with a 63-56 win over Bloomfield College in the CACC Tournament Championship game. Junior point guard Russell Frederick was named Tournament MVP for the second consecutive season, while juniors Mike Yocum and Macolm Ingram were named to the All-Tournament team.

C.W. Post won their second East Coast Conference Championship with a 62-56 win over the University of Bridgeport, and returns to the tournament for the second straight year.

Regional winners advance to the men's Elite Eight which will be hosted by American International College and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts on 3/25, 3/26, 3/28.
