Felician Holds On for Win Over Nyack

Nyack, NY - Felician College defeated Nyack College 79-72 this evening in the first round of the CACC tournament. The game marked the first home conference playoff game for the Warriors since the 2000 season.

The game started off slow with both teams struggling to score early.

Felician took and early lead but Nyack made a run to tie the score at 10-10. The score stayed close until both Lataiva Escho and Frank Conias went to the bench because of foul trouble. Felician then took advantage and pulled away to end the first half. The Golden Falcons went into halftime up by eleven 37-26.

Nyack came out strong to start the second half cutting the lead very quickly. The Warriors took their first lead of the second half on a lay in by Escho to bring the score to 44-43 with just over 14 minutes to go.

Nyack would extend the lead to six points on a basket by Aaron Wilkins, but Felician would not go away. They would reclaim the lead on a 3-pointer by Sadot Williams to go up 50-49 with 10:51 to go in the game.

Felician would then extend their lead to as much as five points. Brian Roberts brought the crowd to their feet and got Nyack within two with a monster rebound dunk with 4:37 to go in the game but Sadot Williams quickly answered with another 3-pointer to silence the crowd and put Felician back up by five. Nyack would not get any closer than four points as Felician closed out the game on the free throw line for the seven point win.

Thomas Johnson led Felician with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Raffinee Williams added 17 points and 9 rebounds. Lataiva Escho led the way for Nyack with 22 points and 9 rebounds while Antaeus Hayes added 16 points

and 4 rebounds.
