MIDDLETOWN, Del. (April 26, 2017) -- Wilmington University shot a final round 290 (+6) to come from behind following day one and claim the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Championship on Wednesday at Back Creek Golf Club in Middletown, Del. It marked the seventh-straight CACC Championship for the program, as the Wildcats finished with a two-day total of 608 (+40).

On the individual front, Nyack College's Elliot Wakefield strung together a pair of fantastic rounds, including an opening round, 70 (+1), to win the individual championship with a two-round total of six-over (148). Wakefield's first round score was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 16th, followed by a remarkable hole-in-one on the par-3 17th. His second round score was a 78 (+7), as it was enough for him to claim the CACC individual title.

The Wildcats were spectacular on day two following a rough day one score of 318 (+34), which left WilmU in second place in the team standings. However, Miguel Siercke carded an final round even-par, 71, while Freddy Braun followed with a 72 (+1), Zac Moore shot a 73 (+2) -- including a birdie on the 18th hole after he stuck his second shot from 160 yards out approximately a foot from the hole -- and Ryan Rucinski a 74 (+3) to lead the way for the Wildcats over the final 18 holes of the tournament.

Moore and Rucinski finished in a tie for fifth place with two-day total of 151 (+9), while Siercke and Sam Clark tied for 13th (+14, 156). Braun tied for 22nd at 159 (+17). By winning the championship, the Wildcats earned the CACC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Super Regional in early May.

The low round of day two -- and the entire tournament for that matter -- belonged to Nyack's Tom Holmes, who fired a two-under-par, 69, as he carded birdies on 3, 7, 11 and 16. Holmes finished alone in 11th with a score of 154 (+12).

In addition to Siercke's final round 71, Felician University's Jake Storako also shot a 71 (E) to finish in a tie for third at +8 (150).

The top five and ties in the individual standings earned CACC All-Tournament honors. Joining Wakefield, Storako, Rucinski and Moore on the all-tournament team were Dominican College's Leonard Lee (2nd, +7, 149), Post University's Fredrik Rollve (T3rd, +8, 150) and Concordia College's Mos Bangpetch (T5th, +9, 151).

Dominican, which led the tournament following round one, finished in a very respectable second place at +43 (611), as the Chargers were within a stroke of WilmU with just three holes to play and three groups still out on the course. Concordia rounded out the top three with a 618 (+50).
