Four-Peat: Wilmington Wins 2014 CACC Men's Golf Championship; Dominican's Prokop Individual Medalist
BLUE BELL, Pa. - Wilmington University secured its fourth-straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Golf Championship with a dominating two-day score of 624 after firing a 323 in the second and final round of the tournament. The Wildcats earned the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament. Dominican College senior captain Keith Prokop (Boonton, N.J.) shot a +2 (74) to claim the Individual Medalist trophy with a combined two-day score of 150. The 2014 CACC Men's Golf Championship was hosted by Chestnut Hill College at Blue Bell Country Club in Blue Bell, Pa.
Joining Prokop on the CACC All-Tournament Team were Wilmington's senior Tomasz Pulsakowski (Wroclaw, Poland), day one leader and senior Andrew Baldo (Landenberg, Pa.) and junior Alexander Lautenschlaeger (Bad Zwischenahn, Germany); senior Sam Deitte (St. Louis, Mo.) of Concordia College; junior Blaise Straka (Croydon, Pa.) of Chestnut Hill; and junior Matthew Yun (Flushing, N.Y.) of Nyack College.
Host Chestnut Hill shot a team low for day two with a 321, which moved the Griffins up to the fourth position with a two day score of 668. Nyack finished the tournament in second place (647), outdistancing third place Concordia (653) by six shots. Dominican (677), Philadelphia University (684), Goldey-Beacom College (695), Post University (702), Felician College (711) and the University of the Sciences (741) completed the championship field.
The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is an NCAA Division II Conference composed of 14 institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The member institutions are Bloomfield College, Caldwell College, Chestnut Hill College, Concordia (NY) College, Dominican (N.Y.) College, Felician College, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Nyack College, Philadelphia University, Post University, University of the Sciences and Wilmington University.
