Wilmington Dominates CACC Men’s Golf Major Awards and All-Conference Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Wilmington University once again dominates the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Golf major awards and all-conference team as announced today by Commissioner Daniel Mara of Waterbury.  Wildcat senior Jerry Temple, Jr. has been tabbed as CACC Men's Golf Player of the Year, teammate Sam Clark has earned Rookie of the Year and WU mentor Harry Jennings has been chosen as the Coach of the Year.  Felician College is the 2014 recipient of the Team Sportsmanship accolades.  The major individual awards and all-conference team is determined by the current Golfstat rankings, the coach of the year is voted upon by the league's sports information directors and the team sportsmanship award is voted by the coaches.

Temple, a native of Newark, Delaware, sits atop the Golfstat rankings with a Division Rating of 164.  In seven tournaments this season, the senior has carded an average score of 74.90 and has posted two top-five finishes and one additional top-10 in 2013-2014.  He carded a low round of 69 during his second round of the Flagler College Jennison Memorial on September 24, 2013.  This is the first appearance for Temple on the All-Conference Team as well.

Clark is currently ranked second in the conference with a Divisional Rating of 239.  In seven tournaments, the freshman from Hampstead, Md. has recorded an average round of 75.38 and has registered five top-20 performances including two top-fives.  Clark was tied for first with teammates Matt DiEleuterio and Tomasz Pulsakowski by shooting a 76 in a match with Felician on March 14.  He was named CACC Rookie of the Week on March 31 after leading the Wildcats to a ninth-place finish at the Jim Bishop Toyota Classic hosted by North Alabama.

Joining Temple, Clark and Pulsakowski on the CACC All-Conference Team are junior Matthew Yun of Nyack College; senior Andrew Baldo, sophomore Andreas Lunding, and freshman Freddy Braun of Wilmington; senior Ross Earnshaw of Post University; and senior Sam Deitte and junior Eutimio Fernandez-Meade of Concordia College.

For the fourth consecutive time, Wilmington's Harry Jennings has been named CACC Coach of the Year. The headman is currently in his tenth season at the helm of the Wildcat program that enters the 2014 CACC Tournament as the three-time defending champion.  Jennings has placed six Wildcats on the 2014 edition of the all-league team including the Player and Rookie of the Year.
