Wilmington Claims Second Straight CACC Golf Championship

Lafayette Hill, Pa. (April 11, 2012) - Wilmington University claimed its second consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Championship following the second and final round of play on Wednesday at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club.

The Wildcats shot a 306 (+18) during the second round of play for a two-day total of 615 (+39) allowing them to distance themselves 12 strokes ahead of second-place finisher Post University, which recorded a two-round score of 627 (+51).

Concordia (630/+54), Goldey-Beacom (641/+65), Nyack (651/+75), Philadelphia (667/+91), Dominican (673/+97), Holy Family (673/+97), USciences (701/+125), Felician (746/+170) and Chestnut Hill (747/+171) rounded out the team leaderboard.

Wilmington junior Paul Tighe (Logan, N.J.) captured the inidvidual title after shooting a tournament-best single round total of 71, pushing his two-day score to 147 (+3), two strokes better then runner-ups Patrick McRae (Goldey Beacom) and Jeff Whiteside who each finished at 149 (+5).

The 2012 CACC All-Tournament Team included Post's Thomas Rees (153/+9), Wilmington's Daniel Ott (154/+10), Concordia's Jeff Schaller (154/+10), Tighe, Whiteside and McRae.
