CACC CHAMPIONSHIPS: GOLDEY-BEACOM, TOBIASON WIN THIRD STRAIGHT TITLES

MIDDLEFIELD, CT- Junior Mike Tobiason (Wilmington, DE) of Goldey-Beacom College defended his tournament championship for the second straight year in leading his team to the overall title at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Golf Tournament.  He finished with a two-day total of 147 (+3).

After the front nine (27 holes) Goldey and Post University were tied, but Goldey used a 144 back nine (even par) to take the title for the third straight year.  Goldey’s second-day total of 305 bested their previous best round by five shots.  GBC’s Steve Cutler (+4) had the best round of the event with a 71, which included three straight birdies on the back nine.  Cutler finished second.  Tobiason had two eagles on the back.  Post’s Tom Dorso (Waterbury, CT), the first round leader, finished third at 152 (+8). 

Nyack College and Goldey-Beacom were named to Co-Sportsmanship Award winners at a banquet following the day’s competition.  Post head golf coach Pete Stevens was named Coach of the Year.  Brian Mackey of Dominican College was the Newcomer of the Year.

Goldey finished at 625.  Post was next at 637. Dominican College (657),  Nyack College (670), Wilmington College (670), Holy Family University (680), and Caldwell College (930) round out the team scores.  Complete results are listed below, including the 2005 All-Conference team :
