2023 CACC Baseball All Conference & Major Award Winners

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 9, 2023) – Bloomfield College senior first baseman Tyree Bradley has been named the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Year, CACC Commissioner Dan Mara announced on Tuesday. Bradley, who was also voted onto the All-CACC First Team, earned the honors via a vote of the league’s 11 head coaches in the sport.

The CACC’s five major individual baseball awards were released on Tuesday and claimed by five different institutions. Wilmington University junior Matt Warrington was voted the conference Pitcher of the Year, and Gabe Silva of Thomas Jefferson University was tapped as the Rookie of the Year. In a vote by the league’s sports information directors, Post University head coach Ray Skjold was selected as the CACC Coach of the Year, while Alliance University was chosen the winner of the annual CACC Team Sportsmanship Award.

Bradley is the second Bloomfield baseball student-athlete to win the CACC Player of the Year Award, and the first since Lino Mariot in 2006. He leads the conference in all three “Triple Crown” categories with a .400 batting average, 17 home runs and 60 runs batted in. He is also on top with a .549 on-base percentage, .885 slugging percentage, and 115 total bases. Bradley, the 2019 CACC Rookie of the Year, helped the Bears (17-31) to a CACC playoff berth.

The right-handed Warrington enters the main draw of the CACC Championship tournament as the conference’s only seven-game winner. He is 7-0 with a league-best 2.05 earned-run average, and his 83 strikeouts (in 61 1/3 innings) sit second in the CACC. On Apr. 19, he tossed a two-hit shutout against Alliance with 13 strikeouts. Warrington was also voted onto the All-CACC First Team.

Silva was also elected to the All-CACC Second Team at Second base for Jefferson (26-22), which reached the conference postseason tournament. He hit .314 with two home runs, 39 runs scored, 36 RBI, and 20 stolen bases.

Skjold, in his fourth season leading the Eagles, is the first CACC Coach of the Year in Post baseball history. The Eagles (33-15) captured their second consecutive CACC North Division regular-season championship, putting up a 22-3 won-lost record in conference play. Post is ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Division II East Region and is the overall No. 1 seed for this week’s CACC playoffs.

Alliance was chosen by the league’s head coaches as the team that best demonstrated outstanding character and class during the regular season. It wins the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award for the third consecutive year. Alliance is led by first-year head coach Andre Narvaez.

The conference coaches also voted on the All-CACC First and Second Teams, which are listed below. Wilmington led the way with 10 overall selections, including seven on the First Team.

The CACC Championship tournament resumes on Thursday when Post hosts the three-day, four-team double-elimination segment at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury, Conn. Post, Wilmington, Felician University and Goldey-Beacom College are the participating teams. More information is available at https://caccathletics.org/sports/Championship/2022-23/BASE.
