NEW HAVEN, Conn. (June 5, 2019) -- Wilmington University's Eddie Nevins had a terrific 2019 campaign and he has been rewarded with a pair of first-team All-America honors, as recently announced by both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). In addition to those two honors, Nevins also earned second-team status from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Nevins becomes the Wildcats' first All-American since the 2015 season, when Wilmington had five student-athletes earn All-American status by at least one of the three organizations. Nevins becomes the first first-team All-American since Tyler Fries and Frank Samluk earned the distinction by Daktronics (now D2CCA) following the 2015 campaign. He is only the fourth Wildcats baseball player to be named a First Team All-American, including Jason Rust's honor by the ABCA in 2007.

Nevins finished out his record-breaking season batting .440 on the year, which ranked him third across all of NCAA Division II and second in the Region. The utility player recorded 77 hits this season, including 15 doubles, five triples, and eight homeruns. His 62 RBI this season was one shy of teammate Kendall Small's 63, which broke a program-record for RBI in a season. He led the team in stolen bases with 16 this year, while only being caught three times. He also led the team in walks with 43, while scoring 65 runs. Nevins also broke a program record with a .548 on base percentage this season and finished out the year with a .730 slugging percentage. He had a season-high five RBI, going 3-for-5 against eighth seeded Franklin Pierce in the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Nevins was named the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year, while also becoming the consensus East Region Player of the Year as he earned the award from the ABCA, D2CCA and NCBWA.

In addition, Dominican College's Justin Decker was named an honorable-mention All American by the NCBWA at second base.
