WilmU's Eddie Nevins Becomes Consensus Division II East Region Player of the Year as He Takes Honor from ABCA

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (June 3, 2019) -- Wilmington University's Eddie Nevins became the consensus NCAA Division II East Region Player of the Year, as it was recently announced that he was the America Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division II East Region Player of the Year. Nevins' ABCA top regional honor comes just after he took home similar status from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).

It marks the second-consecutive year a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) standout was named the consensus East Region Player of the Year, as Felician University's Matt Diesel turned the trick in 2018.

In addition to being named the ABCA's regional player of the year, Nevins also was named to the All-East Region First Team as an infielder (utility). Nevins has been named a player of the year recipient four times in 2019, as he was named the CACC Player of the Year in early May following an impressive regular season in which he hit .440 with eight home runs and 62 runs batted in. His batting average paced the CACC, while his 62 runs knocked in were the second most in the league.

Overall, six CACC standouts were named to the ABCA All-East First Team. In addition to Nevins, Chestnut Hill College's Eric Gilham (C), Dominican College's Justin Decker (2B), Dominican's Joshua Colon (SS), Post University's Rosario Missiti (OF) and WilmU's Luke Johnson (OF) were tabbed on the top team.

Four more standouts were named to the All-East Second Team, including Kendall Small (WilmU, 1B), Danny Healey Jr. (Felician University, 2B), Tyree Bradley (Bloomfield College, 3B) and L.T. Struble (Felician, INF).
